The biggest rave of the Estonian summer takes place on the beautiful shores of Võrtsjärv.  Two days straight of performers and DJs on stage blasting the best electronic music Estonia has to offer provides constant entertainment for the crowd.  What started out as a little local party has become big enough to attract headliners such as this year’s SevenDoors from England.

Eighth Wave Exhibit
July 12th- August 20th
Kärdla, Hiiu County

Every year the works of Hiiumaa artists are shown off in a few exhibits.  This year, the mediums of painting, photo, sculpture, textile, ceramics and glass will be displayed at the Nelja Nurga gallery where it is also possible to purchase the newest publications and music coming from Hiiumaa.  The Kärdla Culture Center will host works of photography and sculpture.  Starting August 1st, you can also check out an exhibit called, “Paradise”, made up of paintings and photographs.

 Viru Electro

The quiet seaside village of Käsmu will host a number of electronic bands from across Europe.  Groups from Sweden, France, Finland, Russia, and Estonia will take the stage to play some of the latest and greatest, as well as some old school electronica, with impressive light shows to complete the atmosphere.

The NUKU museum gives you the chance to see puppets come to life, create your own puppet, and face your fears in the Cellar of Creepy Puppets of on the Glass Bridge.  In addition, there is a lot to learn about the history of theatre and puppetry.  Take advantage of the extended summer hours and activities and bring the whole family.

 DiveDiveDive Festival

Divedivedive.org is a magazine with its origins in Saaremaa committed to distributing alternative and independent art and culture.  To celebrate their 10th anniversary, they’re throwing a huge party, in the form of a music festival.  Groups from the UK, Sweden, Latvia, and Japan will take turns with local artists on the stage.

 Kadriorg 298

Kadriorg Park, Tallinn

The Kadriorg park and palace are celebrating their 298th birthday.  As part of the celebration a number of interactive games to put you in touch with the palace’s history will be added to the usual museum schedule.  There will also be guided tours through the gardens, and performances held on the conference grounds.  Fun will be had by visitors of every age.

 Mustjala Festival

Mustjala, Saare County

Saaremaa invites music lovers from the mainland once a year to participate in this festival of quiet, beautiful music fitting to the surroundings of the untouched forests of the island.  Concerts will be held in churches, old manors, or in the open air.

Caribbean Culture Festival
July 22nd-24th
Tsiistre Teemaja, Võru

This should catch your eye as very unique among cultural events in Estonia.  The Triini Dance Crew is taking the party to southern Estonia in a celebration of Caribbean culture.  The festival includes dance workshops, Jamaican food, competitions, and dance parties.  Show up in a Jamaican costume and get half off your ticket.  Overnight accommodations are also available on site.
