The Electronic Folk Music Festival, which takes place for the third time, again brings the most remarkable representatives of the genre to Viljandi Traditional Music Centre. At the one-day festival, thematic lectures, workshops, light installations, visual programme, and, of course, lots of music – from ambient sound journeys to beat-bassy dance music – is offered.
Culture Dessant 2017

Culture Dessant is the festival organised by the students of the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy for the fifth year already. Pärnu International Opera Music Festival PromFest

ENSO: Roman Matsov 100

Concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ENSO’s former principal conductor, Roman Matsov, will feature music written by two composers that were very significant to him: Ludwig van Beethoven and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The link between Roman Matsov and ENSO lasted much longer than the 13 seasons when he was its principal conductor. It began in 1938, when he became a violinist in what was then the Sympho­ny Orchestra of the State Broadcasting Company (now ENSO).

The author Hirohisa Koike writes about his exhibition: I hope that this collection leads to an appreciation of the daily small stories of other people in general, and not only mine. It might seem there are neither big concepts nor strategies in the pictures presented in Nõmmegraphy: I felt more like being a “Sunday photographer”. However, as Jacques Derrida said, “if the single, first and last time of the shot already occupies a heterogeneous time, this supposes a differing/deferring and differentiated duration: in a split second the light can change, and we’re dealing with a divisionality of the first time.” There is a boundless universe in our everyday life.
