Estonians have always loved visiting various fairs in the summer and buying farm food, plants and all kinds of goodies, and rubbing shoulders with their compatriots. To help you find the events that are just right for you, we have put together a little selection of notable fairs still to come in the summer.
18.07 – Mihkli Fair in Pärnu County
The Mihkli (St Michael’s) Fair held on the third Saturday of July is a classic village fair. Domestic animals and agricultural produce are the main goods traded, complemented by handicrafts. The fair will offer a cultural programme as well as amateur sporting events. There are also activities for children.
19.07 – Day of Open Farms
The entire Estonia will become a fair on the third Sunday of July, when the first Day of Open Farms will be held, with more than a hundred farms opening their doors to visitors. Every farm has its own programme demonstrating its unique qualities.
25.-26.07 – Estonian Farm Days in Jäneda
On the last weekend of July, the traditional farm days will be held in Jäneda. The programme features technology and pedigree animal exhibits, demonstrations, a diverse cultural programme. Every year there are over ten thousand visitors and hundreds of enterprises trading. Plenty of genuine farm food in the Farm Produce Street!
01.08 – International collectors’ day and antique fair in Jõgeva
On Jõgeva’s collectors’ day, people trade in antiques: military goods, old machines, spare motorcycle and car parts, old farm furniture and antique furniture, porcelain and tableware, old books, coins, photographs, postcards, toys and other old goods. The Jõgeva Antique Fair welcomes both experienced collectors, renovation enthusiasts as well as those who have caught the collecting bug only recently.
15.08 – Narva Summer Fair
Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian vendors and artisans will be presenting and selling their products: home and garden products, sweets, meat, souvenirs, handicraft items, construction material and industrial goods. A concert and entertainment programme is also featured. Various groups from Narva, Ida-Viru County, Tallinn and Narva Vocational Centre.
22.08 – Vanamõisa handicraft fair and final summer party
The Vanamõisa handicraft fair attracts more than 400 traders and 10.000 visitors across Estonia every year. A quality handicraft fair, a marquee of Estonian food, a street for street food, a barbecue festival, Onion Street, Kalev’s children’s stage and Kalev’s handicrafts tent, military area, rescue service area, bungee jumping, a lively entertainment programme and village competitions.
07.09-13.09 – Saaremaa Food Festival
Saaremaa has always valued local and genuine food, a good joke, some soothing music and a stimulating drink! The Saaremaa Food Festival will offer all this and much more. The festival includes Restaurant Week, a fair for entrepreneurs, a street picnic and much more.
