In his new meta-installation “SD Blue Flower”, Sergei Lotsmanov presents documents that confirm his new theory concerning blue flowers.

The symbol of the blue flowers, born from the searches of the Jena romantics, has, after the uprising of the Decembrists on 14 (26) December 1825 on Senate square in St. Petersburg, meandering through the gunpowder smoke of the Paris barricades, found its way into the everyday of the fervent circles of the Moscow surrealists.

Sergei Lotsmanov (born 1983, Tartu) lives and works in Moscow. He has graduated from the Venetsianov Art School in Tver (2004), the painting department of the Estonian Academy of Arts (2010) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2012). 

Greek provocateur Yorgos Lanthimos once again triggers schemed manipulations, boundaries of loyalty, immoral thirst for power, traitorous vengeance in his filthiest and funniest courtroom comedy, infused by tour-de-force majestic performances, sexual intrigues, blackly absurd humour and classical music. At the dawn of 18th century, almost all men of England are busy killing each other in the War of the Spanish Succession. Strangely ill Queen Anne (Best Actress of Venice IFF Olivia Colman) is bored in bed of luxurious palace. She ridiculously admires 17 cute bunnies and always attends extravagant lusty competitions, but gives away more important duties to trusty friend Sarah (Rachel Weisz)…

At the end of January, DocPoint Tallinn Festival, which focuses on documentaries, is taking place in Tallinn for the tenth time.

The festival takes place in cooperation with the Helsinki DocPoint Festival, one of the most important documentary film events in the Nordic region.

“Everything moves: nothing stands still!”

Jean Tinguely’s words weren’t just true for his crazy machines but for his whole life. His poetic machines and moving sculptures have fascinated people all over the world. His courageous life inspired an entire generation. Twenty years after his death the “bande à Jean” – a circle of friends and acquaintances – remembers the exceptional artist, who didn’t just break boundaries in his work but also in his private life.

The film offers a sometimes cheerful and sometimes melancholic view, looking back on an exceptional life, but it is also an invitation to face the challenge of each new day, because there is no such thing as standing still.

Once again we will have one of the most remarkable local artists performing in Hobuveski (Lai 47) whose journey in music has expanded the scene of Estonian theatre and film.

The performing artist is Lauri-Dag Tüür (keyboards, guitar, electronic) joined by Silver Ulvik (percussion).

Lauri-Dag Tüür’s music has helped to create the productions of Tõnu Õnnepalu’s plays Vennas and Mäed. His music has also played a central role in the producing Madame Bovary and The Curse of Solaris at Von Krahl Theatre. In addition, he has created music for several documentaries, including Inimese mõõt, Tšernobõli samuraid, Saare võimalikkusest and Vigala Sass – viimased lindid.

As an artist, he has also performed at the Stalker Festival (with his father Erkki-Sven Tüür), Üle Heli Festival and Kukemuru Ambient.

The French Institute of Estonia and Vabamu are glad to invite you to a debate night about the threats of immediacy to democratic discussion. The Internet and social media are going to stay, but how to make them develop democracy instead of suffocating it?

Our panelists are French and Estonian experts on journalism and communication. The debate will be held in English.

Ewert and The Two Dragons has finished their fourth studio album called Hands Around the Moon. 

The album contains 11 songs and for the production of this new LP, they tried working with many different producers from Estonia and abroad. In the end, they decided on Sander Mölder.

“I am sure, that we all will hear this album differently and that different songs will speak to each of us. For me, the album has a great liberating effect. We rediscovered the love for music and storytelling,” said the singer Ewert Sundja.

The Intsikurmu Winter Festival, which is happening for the fourth time, is the prelude to the Intsikurmu Music Festival held in Põlva in early August 2019.

Almost 150 top riders of their field from 35 countries take part in the winter spectacular that is known across the extreme sports world. This makes it the planet’s most international extreme sports event. Gold medallists of X-games, Dew Tour winners and world champions. This will be a proper warm-up for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where the BMX and skateboarder riders participate for the first time in history.

The contest will kick off on Saturday, 2 February with a full day of skateboarding and BMX qualifications. You get to see all the Estonian athletes that have made it to the competition! On 3 February, Sunday, the park will be thrilled by the selected few, who have made it to the next round and will culminate in a powerful finale of the Simple Session and end with the awards ceremony.
